August 1, 2011 - Car & Boat into the Lake - A driver inadvertently backed the trailer carrying his fishing boat and his SUV into Greenwood Lake on Tuesday. It took the Greenwood Lake Police, Fire Department and EMS several hours to unhitch the boat from the submerged trailer and then recover the vehicle. No one was hurt.

June 26, 2011 - Our apparatus is kept in tip top condition. Preventative maintenance and cleaning are part of our routine.

We check our apparatus weekly and ALL of the equipment so it is ready to respond to help in our community.

TRAINING - Waterborne Rescue/Firefighting Apparatus (M-622)

June 14, 2011 - Members of the GLFD refreshed their skills and knowledge on our Waterborne Rescue/Firefighting Apparatus (M-622).

The lifesaving piece of apparatus is capable of transporting patients, waterborne rescues, water supply and of course firefighting.

INCIDENT - MVA w/Entrapment

3-16-2011 - East Shore Road in Greenwood Lake was the scene of a MVA with entrapment the Chrysler minivan over-turned in the partially frozen lake.It appears that the vehicle crossed into the opposite lane and hit a concrete barrier rolled down an embankment into the lake

The victim a local man, was transported by Greenwood Lake Ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern where he subsequently died. -more photos here-
